“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.” -Rumi
What a blessing it is to have friends! When we can sit and be with each other without having to say a word, without having to fix or change our emotional state, where we can simply be held in a space of loving kindness – that is the gift of friendship.
I was able to spend this past weekend with some of my dear childhood friends to celebrate the marriage of Alexis (who I met on the first day of 1st Grade!) There is a simplicity to being around people who have seen you at your best (and cheered you on!) and at your lowest (and have helped you up with no questions asked). This Yoga practice of being Present seems to come a little easier when surrounded by people that you love and that you trust love you back without expectation or condition. It is a wonderful reminder that there is so much to be grateful for, that there is someone shining for you – and reflecting your own light back to you – while rooting for you in even the darkest times when you feel most alone.
Consider calling up a friend today and letting them know just how grateful you are to have them walking this path of life alongside you!
