Collette strives to practice with intention — both on the mat and off! For her, this means moving with an open mind, a happy heart, and compassion for all beings. Through teaching, Collette hopes to inspire a sense of community in her classes and to encourage students to push past self-imposed physical and mental limits. Collette first discovered yoga as a compliment to her studies in acting and dance at Bennington College. After teaching in elementary and preschools for several years, she decided to take her practice to the next level by completing her first 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher certification in 2010. She most recently received 500RYT status through Laughing Lotus in New York City. Collette also holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership which influences the way she designs her classes: flows thoughtfully build with purpose and attention to alignment while still being playful and adventurous.
Through her teaching, Collette aspires to bring a depth of exploration to the asana as well as the Self while creating a sense of community and a remembrance of Unity. You can catch Collette teaching a variety of styles from Vinyasa to Restorative to Yoga with Weights to Yin at Wanderlust Yoga Austin and Castle Hill Fitness. Collette is also an Asana Content lead trainer with Breathe for Change, a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training and Wellness program designed to “Change the world, one teacher at a time.” In addition to leading classes and trainings, she is the resident Yoga Specialist at the Arbor Addiction Treatment Center where she integrates the 12 Step Program into asana, meditation, and pranayama practice.
